PORT Vale edged out Crewe Alexandra 1-0 in the EFL Trophy group B at Vale Park last night. The all important goal came on 18 minutes from Garrity, Crewe had Cooney sent-off in the 8th minute of added time at the end of the second half.
NANTWICH Town are through to the next round of the Emirates F.A. Cup after a 2-1 win at Shifnal Town. Cuff opened the scoring for Shifnal Town on 54 minutes but the Cheshire side were on level terms after 73 minutes as Leitch-Smith equalised on 73 minutes while Harrison neeted in the 90th minute for Nantwich to send the visitors home happy.
In the North West Counties League first division south Abbey Hulton United lost out to Market Drayton Town 2-0 with goals from Brown and a penalty from Messham on 81 minutes.
Sandbach United lost away at Ashville 4-0 with goals for the home side coming from Greenop in the first minute, Boylan 34 minutes, Morgan on 44 minutes and finally Greenop scoring his second of the game 76 minutes.
