Funding available for events in Congleton town Centre
Do you have ambitions to host, or looking to boost a public event in Congleton Town Centre to gain a wider audience? Congleton Town Council has £6,000 of Government Shared Prosperity Funding to increase footfall in town through events and activities to be held before March 2025. It would like to use to support local groups with their town centre events.
Councillors at Congleton Town Council plan to discuss applications at a special Finance and Policy Committee devoted to the allocation of these funds on the 15th August. Local groups have until 5pm on the 5th August to submit their bids.
The funding forms part of a £12k events budget. The Town Council has used £4k to put on the Summer Play Day activities throughout the summer holidays and a further £2k to support Halloween and Christmas activities.
Applications are welcome from groups, organisations and not-for-profit organisations or collectives who are have ideas for events or activities in the town centre. It is not available for individual businesses to host events within their premises.
Applicants will be advised of funding allocated to them, but funding will only be released on evidence of spend.
Preference will be given to events which cover two or more of the following:
• Are inclusive and accessible
• Create a sense of community and being part of Congleton
• Celebrate the Town’s history and culture
• Encourage people to be active and get involved
• Indicate how they will manage the environmental impact of the event.
