GREAT BRITAIN ARE WORLD CHAMPIONS IN SPEEDWAY
GREAT Britain are World Champions having won the Speedway of Nations for the second time in the space of three years at the National Speedway Stadium at Belle Vue, Manchester on Saturday night as Robert Lambert and Dan Bewley took a 7-2 victory over Australian pairing Jack Holder and Brady Kurtz.
Australia topped the qualifying races scoring 36-points which put them through to the final with Great Britain being edged out by a single point finishing on 35-points resulting in them going into a race-off against third placed side Sweden who finished back on 27-points.
Swedish skipper Fredrik Lindgren headed the British pairing home with Bewley and Lambert holding Jacob Thorssell at bay for a 5-4 heat victory.
In the final, Holder was leading and made a superb move to bring his partner Kurtz into second but Lambert and Bewley went between them to lead the Australian pair home and take Gold to send the home supporters wild.
