SKIPPER WANTS TO REPAY SUPPORTERS FAITH
Mickey Demetriou says Crewe Alexandra players will give ‘everything they can’ to send supporters home from Wembley happy on Sunday (1pm).
The defender revealed that repaying the faith of fans is a huge source of motivation for the squad.
Crewe face Crawley Town in the Sky Bet League Two Play-Off Final, with a place in League One for next season up for grabs.
Demetriou said: “We are doing it for them and ourselves. The most important thing is that we are doing it for them to enjoy.
“Regardless of how it goes, we owe them everything for this season, the away support has been brilliant and the home support has been brilliant as well. We will give it everything we can for them.”
Staff and players set off from South Cheshire and headed for the capital yesterday. They spent time at Wembley Stadium last night, before training at an undisclosed location today.
Defender Lewis Billington said: “We enjoyed the celebrations after reaching the Final but it is full focus on the game now.
“If I look at the bigger picture it’s probably a bit daunting so I’m taking it day by day. We’ve all dreamt of walking out at Wembley so there are nerves, but it’s mostly excitement.”
